⭐ 1. How the Cooking for Blockheads Kitchen Works
The key concept of this mod is simple:
Everything in your kitchen becomes one big connected multiblock.
This means:
- Cabinets, fridges, and counters all share storage.
- Tool racks share tools with the entire kitchen.
- The sink provides infinite water to recipes anywhere in the kitchen.
- The oven can auto-cook ingredients stored elsewhere.
- Even the kitchen flooring connects blocks into the same multiblock.
If blocks touch either side-to-side, corner-to-corner, or via the special floor blocks, they link into a single network. This allows the cooking table to pull ingredients from everywhere, no matter where they physically are.
⭐ 2. Core Blocks of the Kitchen
Cooking Table (The Heart of the Kitchen)
The cooking table is where you craft meals through an intuitive GUI. This is your main interface.
With a full kitchen connected, it lets you:
- See all recipes you can make.
- See recipes you almost can make (missing ingredients shown).
- Auto-craft meals instantly from your ingredient network.
- Sort food by name, hunger restored, saturation, or eaten status.
It also enables special crafting like fresh milk, fresh water, cooking oil, dough, and many multi-step Pam’s/HarvestCraft recipes.
Kitchen Floor (Multiblock Connector)
This special flooring connects all attached blocks into one unified structure.
This means:
- You do not need every block to touch a counter.
- Counters above a fridge also count as connected.
- A tool rack on the wall connects via flooring.
This lets you build highly aesthetic kitchens—your layout can be decorative and fully functional.
Counters, Cabinets & Cupboards
These blocks are your primary storage.
- Kitchen Counters: Single-block storage, acts as part of the kitchen.
- Kitchen Cabinets: Wall-mounted storage that still integrates into the multiblock.
- Fridge: A larger two-block-high storage with a freezer section.
Anything you store in these becomes available for crafting.
Example
Store turnips in a counter → the cooking table automatically knows they exist and will offer recipes that use turnips.
Tool Rack (For Kitchen Tools)
Many recipes (especially from Pam’s HarvestCraft) require tools:
- Rolling Pin
- Skillet
- Saucepan
- Pot
- Mixing bowl
- Bakeware
Place a tool rack on a wall, right-click to place tools on it, and those tools become available to the kitchen.
For example:
- Place a roller on a tool rack.
- Cooking table now allows crafting cooking oil.
Sink (Infinite Water Source)
The sink is one of the most useful blocks.
It provides:
- Infinite water
- Unlimited “fresh water” items for cooking
No pipes or machines required. It’s one of the easiest ways in modpacks to get water for crafting.
You can also connect up Mekanism pipes (or pipes from any other mod) & voila… you have an infinite water source for your factories!
Oven (Auto-Cooking Machine)
The oven can:
- Cook multiple items automatically
- Use power (RF/FE) with a heating upgrade
- Store tools like pans and skillets
Place raw food into the oven’s network storage and it will auto-cook into finished food.
You can even power it with:
- Mekanism Energy Cube
- Powah energy cables
- Any FE-producing mod
Toaster
Simple but fun—place bread inside and toast it.
Cow in a Jar (Passive Milk Generator)
How to make it:
- Place a milk jar on the floor.
- Lead a cow above it.
- Drop an anvil onto the cow.
- The cow is “compressed” into the jar.
This produces infinite milk over time.
This milk is instantly available to the entire kitchen.
Fruit Bowl
A decorative storage bowl that also integrates with the kitchen.
You can place fruit inside and see it visually.

Useful to ensure:

This must be installed on each storage block you want to protect.
⭐5. Example: Making Cooking Oil with Pam’s HarvestCraft
Let’s walk through a simple recipe.
Ingredients Needed
- Turnips (stored in a counter)
- Roller (placed on tool rack)
What Happens Automatically
- The cooking table detects the turnips.
- It detects the roller tool.
- It lists “Cooking Oil” as a craftable recipe.
- You click the recipe → instantly craft it.
The magic of the multiblock is that these items don’t need to be next to each other—flooring connects everything.
