Easy Mob Farm – The Ultimate Start-to-Finish Guide

If you’ve ever wanted an automated, hassle-free way to farm mobs in Minecraft, the Easy Mob Farm mod is one of the best systems available. It takes everything you’d normally need for a mob grinder—building a structure, capturing mobs, automating item collection—and compresses it all into a simple, powerful, and fully upgradeable block-based farm. In this guide, I’ll walk you through every part of the mod: how to capture mobs, how to set up farms, how upgrades work, and how to get the most out of this incredibly efficient system.

Capturing Mobs: Nets, Cages, Crystals, and Chains

Before you can produce any drops, you need a mob to put into your farm. Easy Mob Farm provides several capture tools, each with different size limits, durability, and health requirements.

Here are the main types:

  • Enduring net/cage/crystal/chain
    • Cheap to make
    • Captures very small mobs (0.1 × 1.4)
    • Requires mob to be at 50% health
    • 64 uses
  • Ironbound
    • Captures midsize mobs like pigs or sheep (1.5 × 2)
    • Requires 25% health
    • 32 uses
  • Mystic Binding
    • Larger mobs such as Endermen (3 × 4)
  • Void Binding
    • Huge mobs (4 × 6) — the largest capture option

Capturing is simple: weaken a mob to the required health, right-click with the capture item, and when it turns red you know it worked. The item will then display the mob type stored inside.

Choosing a Farm: Tier 0 to Tier 3

Mob farms come in four tiers, each faster and more productive than the last.

  • Tier 0: Copper
  • Tier 1: Iron
  • Tier 2: Gold
  • Tier 3: Netherite

You can craft each tier directly, or upgrade from the previous one.

But before you start farming, you’ll need to choose what type of farm you want. These templates determine what kind of mob the farm is designed for. Some examples include:

  • Animal Plains Farm – cows, pigs, sheep
  • Beehive Farm – honey-producing mobs
  • Desert Farm – husks, camels, etc.
  • Jungle Farm – parrots, ocelots
  • Iron Golem Farm
  • Monster Plains Cave Farm – zombies, skeletons
  • Ocean Farm – fish and aquatic mobs
  • Swamp Farm – frogs and slimes
  • Nether Fortress Farm – blaze, wither skeletons
  • Lucky Drop Farm – mobs with rare drops

To convert a basic farm into a specialized one, just craft it with the required items (e.g., plains items for an Animal Plains Farm).

Once you have the right farm, place it down, insert your captured mob, and the machine will show it floating inside.

Producing Drops

Every farm has a progress bar. Once it fills, the farm outputs drops based on:

  • The mob type
  • The farm tier
  • Any upgrades you’ve installed

A basic cow, for example, will slowly generate meat and leather. A netherite-tier cow farm will generate these much faster.

Upgrades: Speed, Loot, Milk & More

The farm has two types of upgrade slots: enhancements and filters.

Enhancements (Left Slots)

These improve performance or add production abilities:

  • Speed Enhancement – faster production
  • Loot Enhancement – increases drop quality
  • Milk Extractor (Cows Only) – produces milk
  • Creative versions for testing

You can also add storage upgrades (small or large) to unlock additional output slots.

Filters (Right Slots)

These remove unwanted outcomes:

  • No Meat – only get leather
  • No Flowers (Bees)
  • Other filtering items depending on the mob

This allows you to fine-tune the farm so you only get the exact resources you want.

Capture Cards – The Lootbox Mechanics of the Mod

One of the coolest features: Mob Capture Cards.

  • They come in common → legendary rarities
  • They drop randomly from mobs or even from fishing
  • They let you instantly farm that mob without capturing it yourself

So if you find an Epic Wither Skeleton card, just slot it into a Nether Fortress farm—and you’re now producing wither skull drops on autopilot.

No trip to the fortress required. Super convenient.

Automating Output

You can attach:

  • Hoppers
  • Pipes
  • Storage systems
  • Modded item transport (Create, Thermal, AE2, etc.)

This lets you scale the farms to industrial levels, sending huge amounts of mob drops into storage or crafting systems automatically.
