⭐ What Is EvilCraft?
EvilCraft is a dark-themed magic mod for Minecraft. You’ll work with:
- Dark Ore / Dark Gems
- Blood extraction & blood pools
- The Environmental Accumulator
- Undead trees
- Vengeance Spirits
- Mob farms using Eternal Closure
- Powerful blood-powered tools and weapons
- The First & Second Age progression system
This guide covers absolutely everything.
⛏️ 1. Getting Started: Dark Ore, Dark Gems & Crushed Dark Gems
The first resource you need is Dark Ore (or Deepslate Dark Ore).
You can mine it with an Iron Pickaxe, but for best results Use a Fortune pickaxe. Why?
- Dark Gems drop always.
- Crushed Dark Gems drop only with Fortune.
- You cannot machine-process them — Fortune is the only way unless your modpack changes recipes.
Where to find Dark Ore
You’ll usually find it around Redstone Y-levels, both in stone and deepslate.
🍎 2. Crafting the Darkened Apple & Getting the Origins of Darkness Book
This part is very… EvilCraft.
How to craft a Darkened Apple
- Put an Apple + Dark Gem in your inventory crafting grid.
- Do NOT eat it. It deals heavy damage.
How to obtain the Origins of Darkness book
- Feed the Darkened Apple to an animal (most people use a pig).
- Once it dies, a dark anomaly appears.
- Throw a Book into the anomaly before it closes.
- You receive: Origins of Darkness — the mod’s tutorial book.
This book has two main sections:
- The First Age
- The Second Age
But don’t worry — I’m your book today.
🏛️ 3. Dark Temples & The Environmental Accumulator
Next, you’ll want to find a Dark Temple. These spawn in many biomes and contain a powerful block:
✔️ The Environmental Accumulator (EA)
This is your early device for:
- Weather absorption
- Weather crafting
- Biome extraction
- Lightning production
🌤️ 4. Weather Containers & Weather Crafting
Craft a Weather Container using:
- 1 Dark Gem
- 1 Glass Bottle
- 1 Sugar
Right-click or throw it into the EA to capture the current weather:
- Clear → My Only Sunshine
- Rain → When the Rain Begins to Fall
- Thunder → Thunderstruck
You can craft:
- Lightning Grenades (super useful)
- Eternal Water Bucket / Block (infinite water)
- Weather variants for automation & mod interactions
Lightning Grenades are especially good in modpacks where you need to artificial-strike blocks.
🌲 5. Biome Extracting & Degradation
Using Biome Extract Bottles, you can capture the EA’s current biome.
However, extracts degrade after multiple uses and eventually create corrupt “evil” biomes instead of the intended one.
This system becomes more relevant later once you unlock more crafting.
🐺 6. EvilCraft Mobs: Libellas & Werewolves
Poisonous Libellas
- Peaceful in the day
- Murderous at night
- Poison Sacks → used for Poison Buckets, potions, or the Poison Tip enchant.
Drops:
Werewolves
- Spawn at night in evil biomes or villages
- Werewolf Bone → 15 bone meal
- Werewolf Fur → 5 leather
- Werewolf Flesh → late-game infinite food component
Drops:
By day, they turn back into villagers and can trade Dark Gems for Emeralds.
📚 7. EvilCraft Enchantments
EvilCraft adds unique enchants:
- Breaking I–III → opposite of Unbreaking (wears faster)
- Life Stealing I–III
- Poison Tip I–III
- Curse of Vengeance
- Unusing → prevents item breakage
These enchants interact heavily with blood machinery later.
🧪 8. Useful Early Items
Some extremely useful EvilCraft utilities include:
✔️ Dark Tank
Stores 16 buckets of fluid → but tanks can be combined to scale infinitely.
✔️ Spikes & Spiked Plates
Mob-damaging tools used to automatically gather blood.
✔️ Obscured Glass
Lets you see through but blocks light — perfect for mob farms.
✔️ Exalted Crafter
Portable crafting table + chest. The Empowered version cannot burn, despawn, or be destroyed.
✔️ Display Stand
For showing off items or storing key components.
👻 9. Vengeance Spirits & Capturing Them
Killing mobs spawns Vengeance Spirits — ghostly mobs that float toward you.
Useful items:
- Vengeance Ring → jump boost, invisibility, haste, speed (summons spirits)
- Vengeance Focus → captures spirits
- Box of Eternal Closure → stores a captured spirit for automation later
Captured spirits are essential for:
- Mob farms
- Spawn egg reanimation
- Spirit Furnace processing
This is one of the coolest systems in EvilCraft.
9.1 — The Vengeance Ring (Major Detail)
When worn, this ring creates a Vengeance Aura that:
- Attracts spirits
- Makes them visible
- Applies a set of random passive effects:
- Speed
- Jump boost
- Haste
- Invisibility
- BUT increases the chance that spirits spawn on kills
This ring is the fastest way to “mass produce” spirits for:
- Spirit Furnace farms
- Reanimator egg crafting
- Late-game mob automation
However, it comes with a downside:
- High chance of being constantly chased by corrupted spirits
9.2 — Capturing Spirits (Core Mechanic)
Capturing Vengeance Spirits is critical, because the majority of EvilCraft’s automation depends on it.
✔️ Step-by-step Capturing Guide:
- Hold a (you need to craft it) Vengeance Focus.
- Look at the spirit — it becomes outlined.
- If needed, right-click to tune the Focus (filtering tools).
- Right-click the spirit to capture it.
- The spirit becomes an item:
“Contained Vengeance Spirit: (MobName)”
Captured spirits are stored temporarily inside the focus.
9.3 — Box of Eternal Closure
This is the item where a contained spirit becomes permanent.
✔️ Usage:
Right-click the Vengeance Focus onto the box →
The box now permanently contains that mob’s spirit.
This creates:
A reusable, infinitely-powered “mob identity item.”
🩸 10. The Second Age: Blood Extraction
This is where EvilCraft gets serious.
✔️ Blood Extractor
Craft using spikes, glass, and a dark gem.
Kills fill the extractor with Blood, the mod’s primary resource. All this needs is to be in your inventory
Extractors can stack to increase capacity.
Creating Hardened Blood
- Place blood source buckets on the ground.
- Expose to sky (no rain).
- They harden over time.
- Break with Flint & Steel to get Hardened Blood Shards.
Dark Power Gems
Throw a Dark Gem into at least 5 blood source blocks OR use the Blood Infuser later.
🧰 11. Blood Machinery (Core of EvilCraft)
You’ll craft:
✔️ Blood Chest
Repairs tools using blood.
May add negative enchants such as Breaking.
✔️ Blood Infuser
Infuses items with blood, allowing:
- Dead Bush → Undead Sapling
- Dark Gem → Dark Power Gem
- Decorative blocks
- The Promise system
For example here we’re using 250mb of blood to make a Dark Power Gem
✔️ Undead Tree
Grow an Undead Sapling → tree drops blood stains passively for passive blood generation
✔️ Promises & Machine Upgrades
Tiered upgrades you insert into machines for:
- More blood efficiency
- More speed
- More capacity
Crucial for late-game setups.
For example on the left here, we now need a lot less blood once we use the upgrade.
✔️ Sanguinary Pedestal
Collects blood automatically from:
- Blood stains
- Spiked Plates
- Nearby Undead Trees
Works perfectly with Dark Tanks + Chalices.
✔️ Purifier
Removes negative enchants, extracts positive enchants into books, and even removes potion effects from mobs.
✔️ Enchanted Chalice
Acts like an ender-chest for blood storage.
All chalices share the same internal tank.
⚙️ 12. Massive Multiblocks: Colossal Blood Chest
If you need to repair dozens of items at once, build a 3×3 hollow Colossal Blood Chest using Undead Planks and one core block.
It:
- Repairs items with blood
- Supports Promises
- Doesn’t apply negative enchants
⚡ 13. The Sanguinary Environmental Accumulator
A player-built version of the temple EA.
You’ll need:
- 8 full Dark Tanks
- Garmonbozia (late-game)
- Blood Infusion Core
- Environmental Accumulation Core (from a destroyed temple EA)
Allows full weather & environmental crafting anywhere you choose.
🧹 14. Tools: Brooms, Teleporters, Pendants & More
The Broom (EvilCraft’s flying mount)
Crafted from:
- Rod
- Brush
- Cap
- Speed
- Levitation
- Maneuverability
- Blood usage
Each made from different materials that change stats:
Brooms require blood fuel to fly.
Modifiers include Redstone, Glowstone, Nether Stars, etc.
Other Tools
- Blood Pearl of Teleportation → reusable Ender Pearl
- Invigorating Pendant → removes negative effects
- Primed Pendant → stores a potion effect
- Effortless Ring → movement speed + step assist
- Kineticator → item magnet
- Thunder Scepter → single-use lightning
🔪 15. Weapons
EvilCraft adds extremely powerful weapons:
Vengeance Pickaxe
- Fortune V
- Cursed Vengeance III
Mace of Distortion
Knocks mobs back in an AOE blast (uses blood).
Necromancer Staff
Targets a mob → summons temporary zombies that attack your target.
Mace of Destruction
Massive explosive AoE — can destroy terrain.
👹 16. Spirit Furnace: Infinite Mob Farms
Using a Box of Eternal Closure, you can create infinite mob drops.
Steps:
- Capture a Vengeance Spirit of a mob.
- Build the correct-sized Spirit Furnace multiblock. (It basically needs to be big enough to hold the mob you’re farming inside… like a zombie would need a 1x2 height space. (hollow).
- Insert box → furnace consumes blood → reanimates mob drops repeatedly.
Produces:
- Potatoes, rotten flesh, bones, etc.
- Works on any mob, even big ones if you size the cage correctly.
🧬 17. Spirit Reanimator: Spawn Egg Creation
Insert a Box of Eternal Closure → consumes blood → outputs a spawn egg of that mob.
One-time use per box — but extremely powerful for automation.
🩸 18. Late Game: Redstone Constructed Blood Drops
You can use Redstone to stabilize splattered blood and create advanced constructs, needed for:
- High-tier machinery
- Decorative effects
- Ritual systems
This is deep late game, so most players reach this after mastering all other mechanics.
