Twilight Forest – The Labyrinth & Minoshroom Boss Guide
After killing the Lich, the next progression step on your Magic Map is the Swamp, where you’ll find the Labyrinth—also called the Minotaur Maze. On your map, it looks like a tangled brown/green knot. This is where we’ll find the Minoshroom, the third major boss of the Twilight Forest.
Finding & Entering the Labyrinth
So, once you're in the swamp biome, you’ll see this massive mound with a flat top made of maze stone blocks. There’s no fancy entrance—just break in or find one of the cave-like openings around the edges.
Inside, you’ll immediately realise this is a two-floor dungeon, and it's intentionally confusing. Bring:
- Torches (tons, unless you have night vision)
- Good food
- Armor with blast protection if possible
- A decent sword (diamond tier or equivalent modded gear)
- A pickaxe (you’ll want to break spawners quickly)
The whole place is loaded with traps, spawners, and mob ambushes, and you’ll get lost easily. Classic Labyrinth experience.
Mobs You Will Encounter
Minotaurs
Charge at you with axes. They hit hard.
Here's what to expect while navigating:
Slime Beetles
Produce knockback and annoying goo projectiles.
Maze Slimes
Split into smaller slimes.
Fire Beetles
Spew fire—avoid letting them corner you.
Minotaur Spawners
Break these immediately.
Trap Rooms
These include:
- TNT trapped chests
- Falling floors
- Pressure plates
It’s basically the Twilight Forest’s “are-you-paying-attention” dungeon.
Navigating the Maze
TL;DR: You need to go DOWN a floor, then through to the centre room on the lower level.
There’s no puzzle logic here—just follow the tunnels, take turns, break spawners, and if something looks suspicious, it probably is.
Some tips:
Mark your path
Torches on the right or left consistently will help you know which areas you’ve already cleared.
Loot rooms
There are “vault” rooms with iron bars and good treasure, but they are sometimes trapped. Check floors for pressure plates.
Find the staircase down
Eventually, you will find a large stone staircase leading deeper. This takes you to Labyrinth Level 2—the level with the boss.
Finding the Minoshroom
On the second floor, look for a large chamber with a hedge/mushroom theme. It stands out visually from the maze corridors.
Inside is a big open room full of:
- Mushrooms everywhere
- Brown Minotaurs wandering around
- A pool of mushroom stew-like liquid
And in the middle, you’ll find the boss:
THE MINOSHROOM
He looks like a red-and-brown hybrid between a minotaur and a Mooshroom. He’s extremely angry. Understandable.
BOSS FIGHT: The Minoshroom
This is actually one of the simplest fights in the early Twilight Forest, but he hits very hard if you let him charge you.
PHASES
He only has one phase, but his attacks vary slightly:
Attack Patterns
1. Charge Attack
He rushes across the room at high speed.
If it hits you:
- Heavy damage
- Knockback
- Sometimes sends you flying into the mushroom soup
Dodge sideways to avoid it.
2. Cleaving Axe Swings
Close-range melee attacks.
Hits for a lot, so don’t facetank it unless you’ve got strong armor.
3. Mini-Charge / Shuffle Move
He quickly repositions to line up the next charge.
Take the opportunity to hit him a few times.
Best Strategy
Keep moving
Don’t stand still or he WILL line up a charge.
Get behind him after a charge
When he hits a wall or misses you, he has a small recovery window.
That’s your time to do free damage.
Use the mushroom “soup” pool
If he goes into it, he slows down slightly, giving you more attack openings.
Don’t get cornered
The room is big enough to run circles. Use that space.
Golden apples
Useful but not required unless your gear is low-tier.
Fight Summary (TLDR)
- Strafe to dodge his charges.
- Hit him when he crashes or misses.
- Keep mobile.
- Repeat until he drops.
He’s much easier than the Lich—less gimmicks, more brute force.
Rewards
Once defeated, the Minoshroom drops:
*1. Meef Stroganoff
This is the REAL key item. Eating it allows you to enter the Fire Swamp and progress to the next boss.
2. Minoshroom Trophy
For your trophy pedestal.
3. Minotaur Axe
A fantastic weapon early-game.
Special ability:
- Performs a wide-swing AoE cleave attack
- Devastating against groups of mobs
4. Maze Map Focus (sometimes in nearby chests)
Allows you to craft the Maze Map, which shows the entire layout—super useful for the Labyrinth.
What’s Next?
Once you’ve eaten the Meef Stroganoff, you unlock progression into the Fire Swamp, where the Hydra awaits.
