The Ultimate How-To Guide for the Vampirism Mod (Vampire & Hunter Paths)
Welcome to the complete guide to the Vampirism mod for Minecraft.
In this post, I’ll take you through everything you can do as a Vampire and as a Vampire Hunter — how to level, progress, unlock powers, avoid pitfalls, become a Lord, get minions, and more. No fluff. Let’s get started.
1. How to Become a Vampire
There are two ways to become a vampire:
1.1 Get Infected Naturally
- Fight vampires in the world.
- Occasionally they will infect you with Sanguin Vampiris.
- The effect lasts 8–11 minutes.
- Once the timer ends → You become a vampire.
1.2 Use Vampire Fangs
- Vampires can drop Vampire Fangs.
- Right-click the fangs to infect yourself.
- You will take slight poison damage, then gain Sanguin Vampiris.
Preventing Infection (Optional)
- Drink milk before the effect ends
- Find a Vampire Hunter Tent and speak to the normal hunters. They will cure you only while you’re still infected.
– or –
After You Become a Vampire
Once infection ends:
- Your hunger bar changes to a blood bar.
- You gain a Vampire Level (starts at 1).
- Your eyes visually change.
- Your inventory gains a new Vampire Menu Button, including:
- Skill screen
- Appearance options
2. Drinking Blood
To feed:
- Walk up to a mob.
- If it is drinkable, your cursor turns into red fangs.
- Press V (default keybind) to feed.
Green fangs = garlic-tainted blood → do NOT bite.
Feeding Notes
- If you have empty bottles or buckets in your inventory, feeding automatically fills them.
- Draining a mob fully kills it.
3. Leveling to Vampire Level 2–4 (Altar of Inspiration)
Step 1: Craft an Altar of Inspiration
- Made from a Blood Container.
Step 2: Fill It With Blood
Right-click the altar with blood bottles (or pipe it in using other mods).
Step 3: Use the Altar at Night
- Right-click at night.
- Lightning strikes you.
- Each ritual consumes blood:
- Level 1 → 2: 4 buckets
- Level 2 → 3: 3 buckets
- Level 3 → 4: 10 buckets
You are now a Level 4 Vampire.
4. Vampire Skills (Levels 1–14)
Open the Vampire Menu → Skills.
Skills include:
- Night Vision
- Regeneration
- Bat Form
- Dash
- Blood Vision
- Many more…
You cannot unlock everything without:
- Config editing, or
- Installing Godly Vampirism, which doubles skill points and removes most weaknesses (optional mod).
You also have:
- Appearance options (eye types, glowing eyes, titles).
5. Leveling Vampire 4 → 14 (Altar of Infusion)
Step 1: Craft the Altar of Infusion
Requires Gold + Obsidian.
When you place it, it will say:
“You need more or stronger pillars.”
Step 2: Build Infusion Pillars
You may place up to 6 pillars around the altar.
Each pillar is a stack up to 3 blocks high made from:
- Stone Bricks = 1 point each
- Iron Blocks = 2 points each
- Gold Blocks = 3 points each
Tip:
Full pillars of 3 gold blocks each = 9 points × 6 = 54 points, enough for all levels.
Step 3: Add Altar Tips
Craft Altar Tips and place them on top of every pillar.
Step 4: Required Items
Left Slot → Pure Blood (Purity 1–5)
Middle Slot → Human Hearts
Right Slot → Book (“My Book” / vampire books from dungeons)
Where to find Pure Blood:
- Found in Vampire Biomes (dark, foggy forests)
- Dropped by Vampire Barons
- A Baron’s level = purity
- Level 1 → Purity 1
- Level 5 → Purity 5, etc.
Higher levels require higher purity.
Purity 5 works for all lower requirements.
Where to get Hearts:
- Kill Vampire Hunters (in tents or villages).
Where to get Books:
- Strongholds
- Dungeon chests
- Pyramids
- Named Vampires
Step 5: Perform the Infusion Ritual
- Insert required items
- Wait for night
- Right-click the altar
- Blood beams from pillars → you level up
Repeat until Level 14.
(You can cheat via /vampirism level vampire 14.)
6. Vampire Weaknesses, Blood Storage & Death Mechanics
Sunlight
- Level 1: Border effect
- Level 2: Weakness
- Level 3: Nausea
- Level 4+: Burning & damage

Titles include:
- Baron
- Viscount
- Duke
- Prince/Princess

If you want the hunter path:
Step 1: Find a Hunter-Owned Village
Look for:
- Garlic plants
- Hunter buildings
- Hunter Trainer NPC
Step 2: Make a Garlic Injection
Craft:
- Syringe + Garlic
Use it on an Injection Chair → You become a Level 1 Hunter.
You now have:
- Vampire resistance
- Hunter skill tree
- Ability to stake vampires
11. Leveling Hunter Level 1–4
Kill vampires using a stake.
Only the final hit must be with the stake.
Vampires drop:
- Vampire Blood
- Vampire Souls (rare)
Bring the blood to a Hunter Tent, speak to a normal hunter:
Training costs:
- Level 2 → 1 bottle
- Level 3 → 5 bottles
- Level 4 → 12 bottles
- Then he stops training you
12. Leveling Hunter 5–14 (Hunter Research Table)

- Pure Blood
- Books
- Vampire Items (from Barons, named vampires)
Place them into the Hunter Research Table.
You may need upgrade blocks around the table:
- Alchemical Cauldron
- Potion Table
- Weapon Table
These visually attach to the main block and unlock higher research.
Research gives:
- Hunter Intel
Return to the Hunter Trainer with hunter intel + iron → level up.
Repeat until level 14.
