🧭 Nature’s Compass Mod — Complete Guide (How to Find Any Biome Instantly)
The Nature’s Compass mod is one of the simplest yet most powerful utility mods in Minecraft. With modded worlds adding dozens—or even hundreds—of new rare biomes, trying to find the one you need can be a nightmare.
Nature’s Compass solves that completely.
This guide covers:
- How to craft the Nature’s Compass
- How to search for any biome
- How the sorting and filtering works
- Teleporting (creative mode)
- How to navigate to the biome in survival
Let’s begin!
🌲 1. Crafting the Nature’s Compass
The compass is easy to craft and available early game.
Recipe
You’ll need:
- 1 Compass
- 4 Logs
- 4 Saplings
Crafting it gives you the Nature’s Compass, which acts as a biome locator.
🔍 2. Using Nature’s Compass
Right-click the compass to open its interface.
You’ll see a full list of every biome that exists in your modpack/world, including:
- Vanilla biomes
- Modded biomes
- Dimension-specific biomes
The search menu gives you several ways to filter biomes:
Sorting Options
- Sort by Name – alphabetical
- Sort by Source – vanilla vs. modded biomes
- Sort by Tags – e.g. forest, mountain, jungle
- Sort by Dimension – Overworld, Nether, End, etc.
- Sort by Rainfall
- Sort by Temperature
These filters make it incredibly easy to locate exactly what you’re looking for.
🏜️ 3. Example Search — Finding Eroded Badlands
Say you want a very specific biome: Eroded Badlands.
- Open the compass
- Type eroded badlands in the search bar
- Select the biome
- Click Start Search
On the left side of your screen, you’ll see:
- A message showing the closest matching biome
- Exact coordinates
- The distance from your current position
- The dimension it’s located in
No more wandering thousands of blocks hoping to get lucky!
🚀 4. Teleporting (Creative Mode Only)
If you’re in Creative Mode, you can instantly teleport to the biome.
Just right-click the compass again and select Teleport.
In Survival, you cannot teleport—but you can still navigate there easily.
🗺️ 5. Survival Mode Navigation
In Survival, the compass still shows:
- The direction of the biome
- How far away it is
- Its exact coordinates
You can:
- Walk toward the direction indicator
- Set a waypoint using JourneyMap, Xaero’s Minimap, etc.
- Fly using an elytra or other modded flight option
